Community Building
A framework for designing high-signal communities—covering shared values, participation, leadership, and the structural levers that keep people engaged.
From defining what makes communities work, to mapping why people join (and leave), to a practical checklist across values, leadership, composition, activity, and outputs.
What it is
Community Building is a public deck outlining an initial framework for building communities that last—especially around ambitious, technical fields where trust, curation, and clear value matter.
What it does
- Defines success features: shared goals, strong relationships, participation, open communication, leadership, and sustainability.
- Maps motivations & attrition: why people join (knowledge, connections, impact) and what drives them away (stale content, poor engagement, social dynamics, platform friction).
- Provides an operating framework: values and principles, leadership and management, community composition (connectors, mavens, salespeople), activity design, outputs, and stakeholder engagement.
